“Connecting with the inner child can help us tap into our sense of joy and creativity, it will allow us to understand what our inner child needed all along, and to find a way of providing the inner child with its essential needs. These needs include: feeling safe, feeling validated, feeling loved and feeling supported to be creative and expressive”. (Grech, 2018 Healing our Inner Child Workshop)

Aimed for: Multi-disciplinary practitioners who would like to practice multi-sensory inner child work and discover ways how they can integrate it in their practice. Since the workshop is experiential, it also aims to support the personal and professional growth of the practitioners. The professionals include psychotherapists, family therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, guidance teachers, social workers, child and youth care workers, support workers and others.

Interventions we will be exploring:

· Multi-sensory techniques to help us co-create this embodied journey of connecting with our inner child.

· Pacing the work according to where the client is in the process.

· Practice how to bring our inner child home and integrate him/her into our daily lives.

· How to integrate inner-child work when working with couples and families.

· Recruiting our inner child as one of our consultants in our professional practice.

A Reflection: Inner child work has been one of the most powerful therapeutic work that I myself have experienced in the role of a client. Looking back at my own therapeutic journey and how it started over 25 years ago, I still carry in my body, the strong healing feelings I experienced as I held “little Elaine” in my arms “for the first time”. Since then, we have become very close, journeying together through significant moments in my life.

At that time, I was inspired by the work of John Bradshaw, who wrote the book “Homecoming: Reclaiming and healing your inner child”. The way I practice inner child work as a psychotherapist work kept developing over the years. The trauma-informed attachment framework, systemic constellation ideas, and multi-sensory experiential and expressive arts therapeutic modalities, which I have also trained in and practised over the years, have been integrated in the inner child work. Practitioners from various therapeutic modalities, including gestalt, systemic, humanistic and expressive arts therapists will feel right at home in this workshop.

2. How to secure your payment:

• Payment needs to take place within 24 hours; otherwise, your registration will not be secured.

• Write your name and the workshop’s title when processing the payment so that payment can be identified.

• Email confirmation of payment to elainemarygrech@gmail.com so that I can confirm your booking: Name and Surname, Workshop Title and Date, Method of Payment chosen and email address for correspondence regarding the workshop.

3. Participants will receive a receipt of payment on the email provided and will receive a certificate of attendance with the actual amount of CPD hours completed after completing the workshop. The certificate will reflect the hours actually completed so, please make sure you are present for the whole workshop.

4. Please note that it is on a first-come, first-served basis and therefore, your booking can only be confirmed after receiving payment and registration.

5. The payment is non-refundable unless due to the rare eventuality of the workshop being cancelled by the facilitator if the minimum number is not reached.

6.  Around a week before the workshop, you will receive an email with the location and some ideas on how to prepare yourself for the training.
